Scholars Bowl Results

The OHS Varsity Scholars Bowl team took home the bronze medal Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at the NPL League Scholars Bowl hosted by St. John's of Beloit.  Seniors Levi Knoll, and Graham Bales, with Junior Katzel Carlin, Sophomore Clay Guttery, and Freshman Mary Carlin competed against the fourteen other NPL League teams.  The Osborne competitors won five of their seven preliminary rounds.   The two rounds they lost were against St. John's and Lakeside.  This gave the Osborne team a second place finish with the top three teams in each pool advancing to the finals.  St. John's finished the preliminary rounds in first place and Tipton was third in their pool.         In the initial final round Osborne competed against St. John's for a second time and again St. John's earned the better score.  In the next four final rounds Osborne out scored three of their opponents, losing a final round to Tipton, whom they had bested in the preliminary rounds.   At the conclusion of this NPL League Scholars Bowl, St. John's took the gold, Tipton won silver and the Osborne team took the bronze medal, which is the first time Osborne has medaled at this competition.  As Rusty Lueger commented, the St. John's coach, a number of the NPL schools have made it to State and have medaled and even won State over the past number of years.  So this is a very competitive league when it comes to Scholars Bowl thus the Osborne team  and their supporters should be proud of their third place finish.  Way to go Dogs!!
