Scholars Bowl Results

After ten rounds of competition Graham Bales, Kate Kendig, Ryah Bertucelli and Mary Carlin were tied for first place with Norton and Hays High with eight wins each. This occurred at the Phillipsburg Invitational Scholars Bowl Monday, January 23, 2023.  Eleven teams were at this Scholars Bowl competition with the aforementioned quizmasters representing the Osborne Bulldogs.  The Osborne team was comprised of one senior, a sophomore and two freshmen.  Graham Bales had one of his best meets of high school career scoring 190 points for the Bulldogs.  Graham as well as Kate got at least one question in each of the ten rounds of play.  Also, Ryah and Mary did well at this event helping the team to their many wins.  Kate Kendig was high scorer for the team with 300 points.  However, with all the points this Osborne team earned they lost two rounds.  This is what caused the three way tie with Hays High and Norton who also lost two rounds each.  Norton beat Hays High and Osborne had defeated Norton in the final round of the meet.  In defeating Hays High, however, Norton had a large margin of victory with Osborne only defeating Norton by ten points and hays  high had bested Osborne by forty points.  So with the point differences between these three teams, Norton took 1st, Hays High, 2nd and Osborne earned 3rd place.  This was a well earned bronze medal and the team should feel good about how well they did.       That nearly wraps up another season of Scholars Bowl.  February 2, 2023 six of the team members will travel to Lincoln for the KSHSAA Regional Scholars Bowl.  If the ones that represent Osborne at the Regional do as well as the team that went to Phillipsburg, the season will include a trip to the State Scholars Bowl.   Go dogs!!
