The OJH Bullpups attended the Tescott Scholars Bowl on Monday, February 12, 2024. Fifteen teams competed from around the area. The Eighth Grade Team consisted of Captain Olivia Mans, Klaire Eilert, Josh Choate, Peyton Clark, Taryn Ellenz, Gentrie Riner, and Chloe Hougaard. The teams were placed in 3 different pools of five teams each. Osborne competed in Pool C where the competition remained fairly equal throughout the competition with three teams finishing 2-2. By applying the tiebreaker criteria Osborne managed to make it to the finals alongside 5 other teams. That is where the team did not fare as well going 1-4 in the finals the Osborne Varsity finished in 5 th Place. Individual scoring was led by Josh Choate with 155 points, followed closely by Olivia Mans with 135 and Klaire Eilert scoring 120. Peyton Clark and Taryn Ellenz also contributed 10 points each. Osborne dominated the wins and were within striking distance in most of the losses.
The Seventh Grade Team competed in the same pool as the varsity. Like the varsity the tiebreaker criteria allowed the Osborne JV Team to continue on to finals. Once in the finals they rolled through the competition with an impressive 5 wins to claim the 1 st Place Medal. The team scored 70 or more points out of a possible 160 available points in 5 of the 9 rounds. Leading the way as the team captain was Stormy Guttery who scored an outstanding 300 points. Helping secure the victories were Kimber Barfield with 110, Ben Schultz with 70, and Kassidy Heller and Hallie Mick each scoring 30 points.
Osborne will finish out the 2024 season with two meets back to back. Osborne will compete in Stockton on Monday, February 26 th starting at 4:30 PM. Then after a day of learning, the team will load up and head to Hill City on Tuesday, February 27 th starting at 4:00 PM. While sometimes a little crowded the team welcomes spectators to join in on the fun.
