Sweet drinks with brightly colored cans have gripped the tastebuds of the girls and women of this great nation. I am sure you know what I am talking about, if not, take note at any ballgame or school campus to see.  I am here to settle the dispute: which is better Bubbl’r or Alani?Kassi Kaser

First up is Alani. Alani claims to improve both sleeping and energy. It also claims to brighten your complexion and reduce those pesky wrinkles by aiding in hydration. When asked why she prefers Alani over Bubbl’r, Kassi Kaser, a junior, stated “I am a lover of Alani because of the amazing flavor and eye-catching packaging.” Kaser believes Bubbl’r doesn’t have anything on Alani. Kassi isn’t wrong, Alani does come in numerous aesthetically pleasing colors with cute pictures to go along with their quite clever names. Alani even has its own pre-workout powder to help gym goers get that extra burst of energy. On the other hand, Alani contains caffeine with a whopping 200 mg, where Bubbl’r contains 69 mg of caffeine. Contained in high amounts, caffeine can cause anxiety and even headaches. The drink also contains non-nutritive sweeteners that can cause digestive issues.Claire Mick

Like Alani, Bubbl’r also claims to have many health benefits. As stated on their website, “Each can is packed to the brim with B Vitamins.” B Vitamins help your body process the food you eat and turn it into energy. Claire Mick, a freshman, is a self proclaimed Bubbl’r connoisseur, “I love the flavor! I also feel better that I am drinking Bubbl’r, rather than drinking pop,” referring to the sugar content of pop compared to Bubbl’r. A standard can of pop has 39 grams of sugar, where a can of Bubbl’r cantians 0 grams. Similar to Bubbl’r, Alani has 0 grams of sugar. The Bubbl’r website also included that it contains Niacin (B3) which helps to boost your brain functions and can lower cholesterol levels. Pantothenic Acid, which helps with the creation of red blood cells, is also found in the drink and has shown positive effects on your digestive tract.  The negatives of Bubbl’r include bloating and diarrhea if consumed in excess.

But let’s discuss those that have not jumped on this delightful bandwagon. Ashlyn Schultze, a sophomore, said, “I am very particular about what I drink, super fruity beverages make me feel sick.” She later went on to say that she associates energy drinks with her heart bursting, so she sticks with the standard pop or gatorade. A few underclassmen claimed that they weren’t even sure what either was. Could these drinks be a generational trend? Or could it be due to them already having enough energy?

I personally am a Bubbl’r fan, and one could say I have a common case of the Bubbl’r addiction. I have tried all flavors of Bubbl’r, and I have never been disappointed. Now, I would say that I have had my share of Alani’s and they taste good, but something about the word “energy” on the can sounds like a heart attack waiting to happen. Based on my unofficial Instagram poll, my followers agree, as the clear winner was Bubbl’r by 21 votes.

You heard it here folks, based on this single poll, Bubbl’r proved to be the winner. However, the pros and cons seemed to alter the clarity of the contest. At the end of the day, it is your choice on what you put in your body. I personally choose to side with our athletic director, Anthony Blair, who said “I like Bubbl’r, it’s refreshing!”
