Round 1, win, round 2, win, round 3, win, in fact Senior Wyatt Wilson, Juniors, Clay Guttery, and Kate Kendig, Sophomore Mary Carlin and Freshman Aiden Nicholson won eight rounds without a single loss earning them 1st place, the gold metal, at Hill City's varsity Scholars Bowl.  This event took place Monday, December 4.at Hill City's High School.  The junior duo scored  many points for the team with Clay Guttery answering the most questions for the Bulldogs.  Everyone, however, at this competition buzzed in to earn the first place finish.  Sometimes the team would allow their opponents to get a lead so that it would appear they might not win.  But they always stayed with it to the last question, winning one round in a tie-breaker.  This was a great finish to the first half of the varsity Scholars Bowl season.  The varsity team will not have another competition until Saturday, January 13, 2024 at St. John's, Beloit.  Thirty-two teams are expected to compete at the largest Scholars Bowl in this area.  If you would like to see a big Scholars Bowl event, be at St. John's, Beloit January 13 next year.  The cost for being a spectator at a varsity Scholars Bowl is time and the purchase of enough fuel to get you to the event and back home and maybe something to eat.  Go Dogs !
