The Osborne Robotics Club kicked off their season with a fantastic performance at the Beloit Lego Holiday Competition on Tuesday Dec 5th.  The competition was attended by 100 students from 7 different schools. The Competition hosted 5 unique events for robots to compete in.  Of these 5 events, the Osborne Robotics Club took 1st place in 3.

The Osborne Robotics Club continues to perform very strongly in the Maze competition taking 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th places.  This event required traversing a life-sized maze using compass, touch and ultrasonic sensors.

Carter Delaney & Tru Schultz took First Place in the Maze Event.

Hallie Mick & Aubrey Gasper took Second Place in the Maze Event.

Isaac Mick & Tyler Herrman took Third Place in the Maze Event.

Camden Wagoner & Lincoln Lane took Fourth Place in the Maze Event.

The “Gift” Retrieval event required using an image sensor to follow a line until the robot arrived at a target object. The object was detected by an ultrasonic ranging sensor. After arriving at the object, the robot stopped and used a motor driven arm to grab the gift and return to home base.

Korbin Heller & Allanna Lecuyer took First Place in the Gift Retrieval Event.

The Reindeer Race event required designing a robot for speed with gears and large tires. Students then tested their abilities at traversing a set of obstacles in a race to beat their competitors.

Isaac Mick & Tyler Herrman took First place in the Reindeer Race Event.

In addition to the awards mentioned above, Frankie Delaney, Konner McCra & Eve Mick had strong performances in the Sumo, Reindeer Race and Line Follower events.  Although they didn’t fight their way to a medal, they DID do an exceptional job at each of these events and in cheering their team on.

All said, it was a great day to be a Bulldog and to show everyone that Osborne has some talented young aspiring engineers. Please take some time to watch some of the events and awards ceremony at the links provided below.

The Osborne Robotics team would also like to thank Sims Fertilizer for sponsoring our t-shirts this year!
